Because of the size of the canvas, this should belong in my "Minis" section, but I was so impressed with the way it came out that I put it here, in my portraits section, just to feature it. I attempted a new technique with this painting called an "underpainting", or dead layer that masters used to do in portraits. I read about it in a magazine so I tried it. I was astounded at how much it improved the dimensions of the figures.
The models are the finance manager I work with and his daughter. He brought her to work one day, and I snapped a picture of them in the hallway. It was entirely too precious to ignore.
